Vehicle Description

Back in 2001, Mitsubishi rolled out the Montero Sport like it was gearing up for a showdown with Mother Nature herself. With boxy lines sharp enough to cut through wind resistance and your self-esteem, this beast was built for drivers who thought “paved roads” were a government conspiracy.

Under the hood was a V6 that roared like a smoker on mile three of a marathon, but hey—it got there. Acceleration wasn’t its strong suit, unless you were being chased by turtles. But throw it into 4WD, and suddenly it was King of the Mud Hill, chugging up trails like a caffeinated mountain goat.

Inside, it was pure early-2000s glory: faux wood trim, chunky dials, and enough beige to blend in at a retirement community. It didn't have Bluetooth (that was a dental issue in 2001), but it did have a CD player and cupholders deep enough to lose a small child in.

Sure, cornering felt like wrestling a hippo in a canoe, and gas mileage could best be described as “thirsty lumberjack,” but the Montero Sport wasn’t here to win beauty contests. It was here to climb stuff, haul things, and make you feel like an off-road legend—even if you were just going to Home Depot.
